As someone who knows Tenochca Nahuatl (the variety spoken in Anahuac at the time of the Spanish Invasion) and has read nearly every major text written in that language, translating many pieces from the corpus, I HAVE reflected on what you suggest. But there is zero evidence for a connection between "hueyi" and "güey." It's simply coincidence and wishful thinking.
